Alcea Hollyhock rosea 'Nigra'

Alcea rosea 'Nigra' has a color so dark, so deep, it appears black. With 4 inch saucer shaped blooms, 'Nigra' reaches a height of 6-8 feet. Grown as a biennial or perennial, hollyhocks need full sun and rich, moist soil. Thomas Jefferson had a fondness for this antique variety, as this was chosen to grace his garden at Monticello.
