A fast growing vine, with leaves as much as a foot across, sicana produces bright yellow, fragrant blooms. Sweet, aromatic fruit follows that are deep orange and may grow to 24 inches long. The fruit can be eaten raw, or used for jam and preserves. The immature fruit is often cooked and served in soups and stews. Ripened fruit is also used as a centerpiece that perfumes an entire room with with a wonderful, fresh melon fragrance. A native of Brazil, Sicana is considered a perennial vine, hardy to 34 F., and will grow well in heat and humidity. Pkt. 5

Sow in moist potting mix ½ inchdeep. Keep at 74-80 F. and bright light. Transplant to 3 inch pots when 2 sets of leaves appear. Grow on at 65-70 F. Move to well drained area in full to part sun.
