Tithonia, commonly called Mexican Sunflower, is a large annual that produces daisy-like flowers from summer until a hard frost. 'Goldfinger' has yellow-orange flowers and is shorter and more compact than the species, at about 3 feet tall. Each flower is about 3 inches across, with a ring of petals surrounding an orange center. Blooms top sturdy stems with large, fuzzy three-lobed leaves. Attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds tithonia is well suited at the back of the flower border and makes ideal cut flowers. Pkt. 55

Direct sow into prepared seed bed and barely cover seed after danger of frost has passed. Plant a group of 3-4 seeds close together 2 feet apart and thin to strongest plant. Can be started indoors in peat pots.
